Total production: 1800 bottles
Single vineyard wine.
Philosophy:
The Red Rose is definitely left of center compared to your average run of the mill 'pink'! As with all of my wines my focus is on depth complexity and rich flavours. The 2009 Red Rose is an aged rose that is really now hitting it's drinking straps. If you are after a simple one dimensional pink wine… then I suggest you should forget it. I've used Masceration Carbonique, Extended Cold Maceration, Cold Fermentation on full solids, Partial Malolactic and Barrel Fermentation before finally aging in tank on un-stirred lees for around 8 months. This is a serious rose that will only but improve with time spent down the cellar. Having said that, it's drinking beautifully now too!
Colour:
Brilliant pastel Raspberry Red with seductive pink notes about the meniscus
Nose:
perfectly ripe rasberries and toffee apples soar gracefully over a potpouri of fragrant rose petal , turkish delight with a cheeky hint of yeasty autolysis peeking out underneath
Palate:
emulating a perfect raspberry and red current crush with lovely tight acidity leading through a generous fruit driven body finishing with a long lingering smear of lime and butterscotch sorbet. The rich floral characters of the Fronti give an implied middle palate sweetness that is fully cleansed by the slightly sweet but crisp finish. Best when lightly chilled.
Purchase:
