AD 2000 Fortified Shiraz Cabernet VP 750ml
Production:
The wine was made by Peter Lehmann (Dad) in his last year at the Saltram Winery before moving to what is now Peter Lehmann Wines. I have re-released this wine on his behalf.
Shiraz sourced from the Barossa.
Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Langhorne Creek.
Colour:
Deep burnt toffee over red brick.
Nose:
Aniseed, toffee and fine aged brandy spirit initially assault the nose laid over incredibly developed caramelised Olorosso sherry characters with uber ripe plum preserve.
Palate:
The aniseed tang of fennel seed studded through rich plum fudge is lifted and cleansed by the old brandy spirit's knife like edge. Surprisingly fresh and rich fruit characters display the rich fusion of varietal Cabernet cassis and Shiraz spicy red fruit. A time capsule of the '79 vintage to savour.
